There are two editions of this pattern. This is one of the original rugs from 1991. Eighteen months after public discussion between Nigel Lendon, Max Allen and Kevin Sudeith about these early examples a second edition appeared on the market. Sudeith calls this the ""feedback loop"" where public discussion about special war rugs results in production of new example of the pattern.

Again this is the original example the likes of which we have not seen in many years. The border on this rug is exceptional, but there are some condition issues to note. The most remarkable condition issue is a washing problem. The bottom right corner of the field appears to have been unfortunately bleached. At the heart of this washing issue is a one inch square that has been repiled. The overall effect of the repair and washing is not optimal, but does not necessarily inhibit the beauty of this rug. There is natural abrash in the pink field. It is darker at the top, and lightest in the middle. The range of color in the field is not from wahing because the border color is very consistent. The border appears to be undyed wool with a chance that it is camel's wool.

Wool: Very good quality wool. Sort pile. Tan border possibly camels wool. Sheen: Very good sheen. Handle: Floppy Selvedge: Like some other rugs of this group, the selvedge is unusual because while it is classic braided overcast, the color is not consistently brown goat hair. The colors in the selvedge are maroon, dark blue, brown, gold, and a some classic goat hair.
Fringe: Ends, not surprisingly are reduced. (Pakistan washing and finishing) Top has very short kilim, Persian closure, tightly spun warps which are kinky from being previously in unwoven kilim. Bottom: no kilim, Persian closure, short kinky fringe. Pile: 4mmWarp: 2S fine threads of natural colored woolWeft: Light gray cotton
Warp Depression:Mixed. Predominantly almost full warp depression, but some areas less depressed
