Red, White, and Blue Drones on a Blue Sky - Afghan War Rug |
Exhibited at: |
|
This rug is new and in perfect condition, with the exception of the notes in the selvedge field. The wool, colors, and wash of this rug are all excellent. The 2019 Drone rugs are probably the best to date. They are woven in Afghanistan by former refugees who lived in Pakistan for more than a generation.

Wool: Best quality "Ghazni" wool | Sheen: Excellent. Great wool well washed | Handle: Strong and sturdy. | Selvedge: The selvedges in the 2019 drone rugs have a considerable problem which is reflected in the prices of the rugs. The selvedges of these rugs have been cut off and sewn back on. Why anyone would do something so thoughtless confounds me. These are probably the best drone rugs to date, but they are also the least expensive. | Fringe: No kilim end, just a Persian style closure. | Pile: The shorter end of the spectrum, about 4mm | Warp: Tan cotton | Weft: White cotton | Warp Depression:Full warp depression, also known as double knotted. Full depression leads to a more densely knotted rug with a stiffer handle caused by its double thick foundation |
