Condition: Best quality. Interesting and unique design.
This rug, and the group of which it is a part, are all exceptionally well made from the best quality materials. The designs are well organized with a strong composition and design. Borders are beautiful, particularly the corner motifs.
Wool: Best quality wool which has been spun by hand. Called Ghazni wool, for the province from Afghanistan where the wool originates. In the past few years warrug.com learned that some of the best quality wool is imported from Iraq and Saudi.
Sheen: Excellent. Good wool with lots of lanolin then washed well with luster rinse, like conditioner for hair.
Handle: Firm, strong. Double knotting, or warp depression, makes a sturdy firm handle.
Selvedge: One fully integrated cord overcast in field color woo, dark blue
Fringe: Three inches white cotton, typical of type.
Pile: 5mm fine wool
Warp: White cotton
Weft: Two cords of fine red thread, probably cotton
Warp Depression: Full warp depression.

Full warp depression, a.k.a. double knotted. Each knot, or pixel, in a rug uses two adjacent warp threads. When the warps are not depressed, they sit on the same plane, so they appear flat on the back, and from the back you can see both nodes. When the warps are full depressed, one warp sits almost on top of the other warp, so when viewed from the back, one can only see one node of each knot.
