Wool: The wool is very good. It is dense, lustrous, and spun by hand. Some tip fading. | Sheen: Excellent. | Handle: Floppy but with strong backbone. | Selvedge: Selvedge is unusual in that it is wider and flatter than most braided goat hair overcast. The braided part faces out. Also, unusually, the selvedge looks to be a combination of goat hair and dark blue wool. |
Fringe: Kilim ends are sturdy and more like carpets from before the Afghan-Soviet war. At the end of pile is an unusually thick braided floated weft. After weft float is a one inch band of very thick weft substitution which looks reduced, closed with Persian closure | Pile: Pile depth varies from 2mm to 7mm | Warp: Brown wool | Weft: Two shoots grey cotton. |
Warp Depression:Unusual warp depression. Corduroy texture. Upper node is thick. |
