Dated 1987. Excellent condition particularly given its 20 years old. . Excellent color. Great imagery of lion tackling deer. The same image is found on 4th century BC Greek vases.
Wool: Very good Sheen: Very good Handle: Floppy Selvedge: Bound with small gauge goat hair threads. Double cord braided. Two areas of damage along left side: 2"" and 1.5"" areas where weft selvedge exposed.
Fringe: Fringe is very lustrous. Top is closed with 3/4 inch band of first twined or another most unusual binding followed by 3 bands of oblique interlacing. Next is 1/4"" plain weave wool, then small band of floated twined supplemental wefts in red burgundy and navy, next is a band of plain weave with weft brocade design of alternating colors, then two more bands of twined floated wefts in burgundy and navy. Bottom kilim is one inch plain weave with weft brocade design, twined floated wefts close kilim, then overhand knots, overhand knots and 1.5"" fringe. Bottom end had various bleeding, no doubt from wash. Bleeding is down from pile, up from floated wefts, and around brocade designs.
