Very unique and interesting carpet from Afghanistan depicting Mt. Fuji in Japan. Cherry blossoms frame the large blue snow-capped mountain in the distance with the lake in the foreground. The elaborate textural Gul-I Barjista border is a mixture of pile and sumac, with colorful flowers and plant shapes outlined by dark brown. The entire composition is bordered by guard stripes made of colorful tulip-like flowers. The long fringe is equally elaborate– layers of pattern, pile, and weave create a long almost-foot-long kilim.
