Light Field Runner with Stylized Helicopters

ID# 82
Date: early 1990s
Size: 30 x 117 inches
(77 x 297 cm)
Origin: Afghanistan / Pakistan
Style: White Field with Stylized Helicopters
Tribe: Baluchi
Condition: This is an older war rug in good condition. There is some minor tip fading in the dark blue and a small, dark mark 1inch wide by 9 inches long running diagonally up towards the bottom right helicopter. The weft threads are wool and the back of this rug is brinish-looking. Both of these are consistent with older rugs.
This war rug has the most understated of patterns, with the helicopters blending nicely into the pattern, essentially camouflaging them. This rug has an overall beautiful and light palette. The wool has a smooth and yet slightly sharp feel to it with excellent sheen.
Wool: This rug has very nice, good, older wool.
Sheen: The sheen is excellent.
Handle: The handle of this war rug is quite soft and supple, while the heft of it creates a different feel.
Selvedge: The selvedge consists of thin goat hair with a braided overcast.
Fringe: The fringe on this war rug is made from a 3 inch substitution kilim skirt.
Pile: 6mm. That lies somewhat flatter than most.
Warp: Natural wool.
Weft: Double-weft natural, blue, black, and red wool.
Warp Depression: none
