Condition: I was told these rugs came out of Mazar I Sharif in the mid 1990s. They show the tendency away from realistic depiction of war motifs towards abstraction and traditional motifs. It is the beginning of the mannerization of war motifs. Good subtle pattern.
Wool: Medium grade, strong but not super soft.
Sheen: Medium.
Handle: Strong but floppy.
Fringe: Kilim with weft brocade.
Pile: wool
Warp: grey cotton
Weft: Natural wool
