This war rug has a very nice double map motif. The use of American weaponry, the M-16s rather than the AK-47s seen in the Soviet-era war rugs, and the wonderfully drawn border tanks makes this rug a fascinating find to the collector and non-collector alike. The drawing of the jets being the same as the drawing of the jets in the red rugs makes this war rug an interesting study. It suggests that the tribal, nomadic weavers are familiar with one another's patterns.
Wool: The wool is nice, thick, and unusually soft for a Chechen rug. It is even and not sharp.
Sheen: The sheen is shiny and will improve as it ages, the wool will oxidize and the natural oils in our feet will enrich it as in all war rugs.
Handle: The handle is floppy, dense, and quite compact.
Selvedge: The selvedge on the left is of 1 cord overcast blue wool while the right is of 2 cord.
Fringe: The minimal fringe on this war rug is of 1 inch cotton kilim with overhand knots.
Pile: 6mm Wool.
Warp: Beige cotton.
Weft: White cotton.
