Red Rug with Afghan Map |
Exhibited at: Denison Museum, - 2008-02-15 |
|
In the same group as a rug depicted here. This is an interesting red rug that features the classic rifle motifs (AK-74) on the sides with a large map of Afghanistan in the center. Usually rugs with these two motifs include a large hand raking through the map, however here it is missing.
Inside of the country are various weapons and vehicles, most notably a Scud/Cruiser missile which wasn't typically used in Afghanistan. The negative space around the map is filled with more weaponry and vehicles.
A classic border of colorful tanks runs around the rug. Hidden throughout the rug are single threads of metallic color. White plastic-like threads can ve found throughout. |
