For sale: Hand woven carpet from Afghanistan

Scattered Flags Sub style of F-16 Map Rug with Three F-16s in formation

ID# 302
Date: 2002
Size: 25 x 30 inches
(63 x 77 cm)
Origin: Afghanistan
Style: Tora Bora No Foreign Flags
Tribe: Turkman
Condition: The condition of this new Afghan war rug is excellent. There is some abrash in the field color as well as the usual minimal light bleeding of dark into light colors. The depiction of the F-16 Fighter Jets in formation is rare. The red images below the jets appear to be bombs being dropped in the war on terror. This Tora Bora rug with caves in the mountains also has drawings showing multiple people in the cabs of the pickup trucks.
The colors are nicely used in this war rug, as is the text ""for brinking peace in Afghanistan your local leader became union with American army"".
Wool: The wool is good and softer than most Tora Bora war rugs.
Sheen: The sheen is minimal, which is typical of these new rugs. This will improve over time as the wool oxidizes.
Handle: The handle of this war rug is firm.
Selvedge: The selvedge consists of 3 cord wool warp wrap.
Fringe: The 2 inch fringe on this war rug has Persian closure.
Pile: Wool 7mm.
Warp: White cotton.
Weft: Black cotton.
Warp Depression: Full Warp Depression
