| This rug, and the group of which it is a part, are all exceptionally well made from the best quality materials. The designs are well organized with a strong composition and design. Borders are beautiful, particularly the corner motifs.
The first Unexploded Ordnance war rugs seen by warrug.com came via Pakistan about twenty years ago. Here are two examples: Rug #2024 UXO Warning Rug, and Rug #451 Do Not Touch War Rug. Sentiment and layout though is where the similarities stop, for whereas the rugs above are "Baluchi" style and likely woven around Herat in Western Afghanistan, the new rugs are "Peshawar" or "Chobi" style and were likely woven in Northeastern Afghanistan by Turkmen weavers. The new UXO rugs came in two sizes (5x8 feet or 1.5M x 2.5M and 6'6"x12'6" or 2x4M) A note about photography. The rug is square but the step ladder was not tall enough to get a square shot of the whole rug, so please excuse the perspective in the full rug photos. |

The "Chobi" wool is high quality wool, minimally processed then spun by hand. | Sheen: Very good. | Handle: A little floppy for this type of rug, but double knotting keeps it stiff and sturdy. | Selvedge: Regrettably, the original selvedge was removed (perhaps because of rolling under?) and replaced with a supplemental selvedge. Our suppliers described this as a good thing ( it is a feature), but I disagree (it is a bug) and the price is discounted as a result. |
