Wool: New. Each color has its own texture and it cut to a slightly different length. | Sheen: As with many new rugs of average quality the sheen is underdeveloped. | Handle: More rigid than most Baluchi rugs, but still pretty floppy. | Selvedge: Well done brown goat hair braided overcast. |
Fringe: Like many of the rugs of this batch, the kilim ends appear to have been removed leaving the remaining fringe kinky from where it had been woven into kilim. I suspect, and it has been suggested to me, that this kilim reduction is particular to Pakistani finishing of Afghan carpets. The Afghan finish appear to leave kilim ends more intact. | Pile: 7mm | Warp: Half very dark brown wool, half tan wool. Division is roughly in the middle of the carpet. | Weft: Grey cotton. |
Warp Depression:Mostly flat, very flat war; angle. |
