this rug, perhaps even a nighttime scene of Kabul. The airport sits in the bottom right corner of the rug as a dark red road snakes up from the bottom left to the top right where rows of planes fly. A cityscape of small yellow and blue buildings sits against the black field.
Wool: Soft, fine
Sheen: Very shiny
Handle: Very floppy
Selvedge: Tightly braided black goat hair
Fringe: Bands of orange, blue, and tan plain weave with braided knots. Bottom right corner looks to have some replacement knots of white and brown.
Pile: 7mm
Warp: Fine naturally colored wool with looped ends
Weft: Grey wool
