Exhibited at: The Textile Museum at George Washington University Museum - 2019-02-09 |
Perfect new condition. Received 2018. Excellently knotted of superb wool dyed with natural dyes. This is one of two rugs of this design that we received, and we are keeping one for exhibition, and selling this one. |
Wool: Excellent. This is hand spun wool which comes from either Ghazni, Saudi Arabia or Iraq. | Sheen: Excellent sheen | Handle: Very strong and firm handle. The double knotting creates a foundation that has two layers, so it is less bendable than a rug without depressed warp. | Selvedge: | Fringe: Like its smaller cousin, rug #1665, this rug has an unusual fringe of woven warps forming a lattice design. | Pile: | Warp: Buff cotton | Weft: Buff cotton | Warp Depression:Full warp depression, also known as "double knotted".
