This rug is in perfect and new condition. It has never been used on the floor.
This rug is interesting because it has features of a Najibullah Rug but the design of a red rug. Specifically the red wool kilim end with one blue stripe indicates Najibullah style. Secondarily, In the foremost stocks of the large AK47's are blue with white diagonal lines, which is typical of patterns in Najibullah Rugs. Thirdly, the planes, at topmost for example, are drawn like Najibullah rug with little rods sticking out of the wings.
This rugs difference with Najibullah rugs are twofold. The classic Najibullah rug from the 1990's is densely knotted with very fine, or 'Beljik' wool. Rug 1522 has better wool than most red rugs but not the 'Beljik' wool of the Najibullah rugs. |
